Post Re: Spring Compression
I know bugger all about suspension, so im going to throw this out there hoping someone can answer it.

Can you compress aftermarker springs safely???

I have Dobi Sport lowering springs in my car but the rear end is still too high for me, Im looking at wanting to drop her another inch - 2 inches on the back end.

Any help here?

Post Re: Spring Compression
im thinking of compressing my aftermarket springs (kings)

its not considered as safe as just buying a pair to the height you want but its pretty damn close

i found an article recently in Street Commodores which recommends it as a great way to get the height you want, they do it just like they would make a new set of springs. put them in the furnace, heat em up, compress to the size you want, let them cool, re paint

There is something about the cooling process that makes it safe though, ill check the article again

Most places can do it within the day, so its a good way to go

but imo your car looks like the perfect height as it is

Yeah I think an article from autospeed was similar. In the process stage they said that the spring maintains its strength somehow.

I also wanna compress my rear pedders springs but then I have to remove the spring, put in stock, then put it back in after compressing. My mechanic would charge me a heap on labour so it would be better for me just to get custom springs and install once.

try and find a place close to the spring compressors, then if they can get it done in one day you may get away with one lot of labour

The kind that goes in the spring worked for me. The last couple of times I didn't bother with one. You don't really need one if you use a floor jack and carefully lower it slowly and the car is high enough.
