 Home done tint job.
$37 incl shipping for a few rolls of tints and wallah... Heard some scary stories about bubbled tints etc but if you do your research and don't mind redoing a window a couple of times to get it right you end up with a not bad finish for REAL cheap. The key is to use a good quality high pressure squeegee and a heat gun/hair dryer to get out the fingers. Oh and lots of water all over the place. The rear glass is still not done though... I tried it once and it was a disaster... EDIT: 35% btw... I'm not planning on redoing 5% tints at every WOF.

Looks good mate
I can remember back in primary school we used to cover our books with duraseal. My books always came out terrible with big ugly looking bubbles/wrinkles in them. I think if I tried this it would end up the same!

 Re: Home done tint job.
looks great.. I have heard professionals say the rear window is quite difficult, they need to heat it in the right spots so it streches/shrinks to fit the curved glass.

 Re: Home done tint job.
yeah rear windo is a biiiiiiiatch. I'd say hardest part about doing any of these windows (by far) is cutting the tint to the right shape. Using a razor its so easy to snag the tint or to cut too wide or too close to edge.... I actually got pretty quick at doing the whole thing by the end but getting a good cut is critical. That's where the pros come into their own...
I may attempt the rear window some time next week if I'm feeling brave.

 Re: Home done tint job.
TradeMe has a couple of different types. Admittedly the stuff I got is noticeably optically sh1tter than the stuff the pros use but aesthetically it looks the same.
