 Re: Maxima MSV Clubsports
Similar, but not the same.
SMX end caps don't go over the exhaust SMX doesn't have the two holes in the front lip IMO the SMX one looks slightly better as the height of the side skirts match the front lip a bit better

Id say it was done by a dealer when it was new, who would have done a few of them. Its not the first one ive seen for sale. There was another on Trademe a year or so ago, which was the same colour.

 Re: Maxima MSV Clubsports
I recall a few of the Aus built R31 skyline Silhouettes with NSV badges (Nissan special vehicles), which is what made me think this one should have been NSV..

 Re: Maxima MSV Clubsports
not those specifically, the SVD versions were factory vehicles, the NSV vehicles I have seen were dealer upgrades. I looked at buying a series2 GTS once, like the one above, however it was priced about 3 times the value of the standard silhouette. I did know someone who had a replica.. the dealer managed to talk him into the idea that the GTS was a standard silhouette with the GTS bodykit and wheels so that's what he bought.. silly guy!!

I don't have my old FSM anymore, but I thought it said it was a viscous LSD..
I also thought the Silhouette had lower springs from factory??

 Re: Maxima MSV Clubsports
nope ... all same suspension except the SVD GTS that had bilsteins Silhouette had LSD, 'sportier' interior trim and seats, 2 tone paint(on most of them), little lower lip thingy on front bar of earlier models, different 15" alloys, some snazzy decals and and the antenna moved to the middle of the roof .. thats about it

I think I would still go with the Silhouette over the Ti, the R31 Ti looked to 'grandpa'ish.. at least in the series2.

 Re: Maxima MSV Clubsports
I thought there were only 2 series of Aust. built R31 skylines? the square grill/headlights, square tail-light Series1 from 1986-1988 and the round tail light rounder headlight Series 2 from 1988-1990? Was there another update in there I missed??

 Re: Maxima MSV Clubsports
there are 2 shapes, with 3 series over the lifetime of the car
there are a few very subtle differences in the first 2... pretty much only ones you would pick up if you knew the cars very well
like series 1 has the charcole canister on the left hand side of the front radiator support panel just behind the head light! where as the series 2 has it located under the brake master cylinder on the firewall!

 Re: Maxima MSV Clubsports
Ok.. makes you wonder why the classified the first 2 as separate series with such minor changes.. other than what you said above, the only other difference I could find was the Silhouette on the series2 had two tone paint..

 Re: Maxima MSV Clubsports
S3 was up to mid 1990 when Nissan shut the Australian Plant and the J30 Maxima took over. I guess some dealers may have had remaining stock until early 1991, but they would all have a 1990 build date, similar to the J30 Maximas sold in 1995. The S3 was a change of headlight, bonnet, grille, bumper, tail-lights, etc. I didn't even know there was a S1/S2, so the changes there were extremely minor. Nothing like what you expect today from a series change/facelift.
