FWD VQ owner... just not a Max
Hey guys(and girls) I arrived here from the big org, after having Jordandalley mention there is a local community My current toy is a VQ35 powered N14 Pulsar, this is the fourth car I have done this style conversion on with good results. The engine is a tight fit in the engine bay but there is enough room with the right mounts. I am using a currently using a Bikirom chipped RB25 R34 ECU to run this VQ35 but I have a VQ30 ECU that is ready for install using a Bikirom board as well. The bikirom should become a very cost effective tuning option for Aus and US VQ30 owners or people fitting VQ35's into earlier model cars as well I intend on posting some more comprehensive info on this in the future Modifications to the VQ35 engine are extensive wih a built engine with some Kelford C spec cams on order so I have some very high hopes for the expected power output. I am able to run the engine on E85 or normal 98RON fuel, with E85 being a great fuel for power I have converted the entire car over to 5 stud, using A32 front hubs, with US sourced 2005 Altima SE-R front brake calipers with DBA 42308 12.6" rotors and redrilled rear hubs. Wheels are from a 2009 Nissan Murano and are 18"x7.5" with a 38mm offset In an efford to 'Maximise' the Pulsar, I fitted the US Maxima 20th Anniversary brake and clutch pedals: Look hot! Got some more info and pics to add soon

Nice! I've always wanted a VQ hatchback
What are you doing in the way of transmission/axles (possibly the hardest part of a FWD engine conversion)?

G Day and welcome
certainly a great and unique product. Seems you have sourced lot of stuff from the US, makes for a very unique car in Aus
If your the same guy i think you are, you also have a twin turbo SS commodore ute? If you are that guy, i know you get a lot of sh*t on other forums (pga, boostloosing) but i personally will not give you a hard time and push for evidence
welcome aboard, i hope you can share some of your knowledge, especially the tuning option for the vq30

Amit wrote: awesome. can you post a pic of the engine bay? The engine is currently out of this engine bay after the clutch got a bit smokey on the dyno... I also have dyno numbers with the Tomei 272 procams and will be posting a direct comparison with the new Kelfords once they are installed and tuned I have a Quartermaster clutch + flywheel combo arriving shortly for under AUS$800, which is good for 800Hp and 600Nm of torque Sinturion wrote: Nice! What are you doing in the way of transmission/axles (possibly the hardest part of a FWD engine conversion)? 2005 Altima SE-R FWD HLSD 6 speed manual gearbox and gear slection lever and A33 6 speed driveshafts, which is why I converted to A32 front hubs Previous swaps have used the Maxima RS5F50V 5 speed but the 6 speed is a neater swap that handles a lot more torque with a great LSD as well for traction Maximus wrote: hehehe

welcome aboard, i hope you can share some of your knowledge, especially the tuning option for the vq30 I actually got cut off from my favourite forums due to using the work internet from home to access the forums. So I although I have the pics they want, they will just have to wait. Rather interesting to see what happens when this particular car gets to Jamboree though... The VQ30 tuning is actually quite good, the ECU coding is comparable to the RB25 NEO and the US KA24 engines. I have also developed a external map for VTC control on the VQ35 which uses peak airflow across the volumetric efficiency table to maxime torque across the entire rpm range Looking forward to some testing once the clutch arrives and the car is re-assembled... then go out chasing K20A converted Civics. The TT LS1 ute went to the great wrecking yard in the sky recently... pics were posted on other forums after a 70yr old ran up the back of it while it was parked outside my new house Was a significant loss since it only did 2500Km's with tht TT setup

Re: FWD VQ owner... just not a Max
i have just been looking up your work with the Kelford cams and ECU on the big org. Youve really donated a lot of your time to making this work, love it
sucks to hear about the ute, did the ute feature on streetcommdores by any chance? i know there was a ute with two turbos sticking out the bonnet that took out horsepower hero this year, just wondering if it was you
with the ecu your working on, is there any chance of using it to get some decent power out of a stock VQ35DE, like a re flash to get it up the US specs?

Great stuff mate! I would love to see this thing finished and hopefully full car pics later mate!
You seem to have a lot of knowledge to share so you are a big plus to us guys.

holy sh*t... that thing is going to fly! nice work man! cant wait to see the final product. how much more work/time is left? and how expensive has this conversion been? it looks like it would be a little costly

with the ecu your working on, is there any chance of using it to get some decent power out of a stock VQ35DE, like a re flash to get it up the US specs? There has been a bit of behind the scene stuff on the big org as well via PM, with some of the obvious 'diagnostic' problem stuff is something that I enjoy Boostloosing tech section always saw good results on my diagnosis skills too. The ute was photographed for a magazine but never featured, I had the last cover car photoshoot organised but the car was written off 8 days prior I only had 481rwKw with a low mount TT setup. The turbos were down next to the chassis rails and the local police never figured out the secret despite the huge intercooler, was a very stealth setup The ECU I am working on for the VQ35 will not work in the A33B, its designed for the VQ35 swapped A32's but also for S13's and 240Z's with a 350Z engine/gearbox setup(did an LJ Torana with a VQ35 swap as well!). Power output with extractors, exhaust and air filter is capable of making 240wHp from stock cams from a good tune. Much more potential than the US spec tune. fastlane wrote: Great stuff mate! Cheers, Eddie. The VQ30 tuning option should be quite good and cheaper than Emanage or JWT options as well joseseat wrote: holy sh*t... that thing is going to fly! nice work man! cant wait to see the final product. how much more work/time is left? and how expensive has this conversion been? it looks like it would be a little costly Its just time waiting on the new parts to arrive... once they get here then it should be 2 days to have it assembled and installed, then another 2 days of tuning before it is finished. Conversion costs have been 'controlled' but to give you an idea the 5 speed conversions have been done for around $10K supplied, installed and tuned

so will the ECU be any use at all for tuning a stock Vq35 in a J31 maxima? or is its use mainly in swapped cars

Maximus wrote: so will the ECU be any use at all for tuning a stock Vq35 in a J31 maxima? or is its use mainly in swapped cars Mainly for swapped cars, as the ECU in the J31 is not compatible. However, I believe that a J31 specific tuning solution is around the corner via flash tuning joseseat wrote: great question! yes, what he said! that would be pretty cool
wow, 10k. thats a lot. what times do you reckon you'll pull with this puppy? how light are pulsars compared to maximas? i'd assume a fair bit lighter Pulsar weighs around 1100Kg, so stock internal VQ35 swaps with breathing mods are capable of mid to high 12's with traction issues or low 13's if you need some drag strip driving lessons lol. With the number of Pulsar owners doing DET swaps and spending similiar money for a professional install job(I have seen guys spend $12K on GTiR engines in their N14 Pulsars resulting in 180Kw@wheels and mid 13's) then I still consider it good money. The best thing about the VQ35 or VQ30 swaps into the Pulsar chassis is how well they handle on the race track The N14 and N15 both have a strong racing pedigree. I am chasing 500+Hp@crankshaft(370+Kw) running the new engine setup with E85 fuel without boost or nitrous. Spinning the engine to 8500rpm, the gear ratios shifts will be perfect to keep the new cams on song(2nd to 3rd shift will be 8500rpm>6100rpm, 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th will both be 8500>6500)

When you compare the Honduh fan boys doing K20 or K24 swaps into EG Civics for $16K for 150Kw@wheels, I still think I can wipe the floor with them

ANOTHER forum you're going to troll eh? What's that, 5 you've been banned off for talking sh*t so far? You obviously have a camera to take photo's (as is evident by the 'new' pictures on your Photobucket), yet you STILL can't take ONE SINGLE ENGINE BAY SHOT. What about the bloke you agreed to show the cars in person, then made up excuses for two days straight and in the end turned your phone off? I'm not here to troll, just warn people not to waste their time with threads built on hopes and dreams. Now, I'll happily delete this post if you can actually prove anything you've claimed - the LSx powered R34 GTR would be a good starter... So Mr Iamhappy46.
After you were shamed out of boostcruising, pulsar group of australia, australian ls1 forums due to your blatant lies, this is where you have come to hang out now?
Funny i reckon.
You sit and say that you cant come to the other forums due to the work internet being cut off, strang that you manage to come here.
To all the members on here that are even considering beliving what he says, ask for photos. He will always make a reason as to why he cant provide pics.
A member off boost went to meet up with him to put to rest all his constant lies, and once again, he never came thru with the goods.
Be weary maxima folk. He is nothing but a virus in the community that is able to tell a good story.

Stop wasting peoples time and effort. Oh and say hi to the people at Ultratune it dept at head office for me wont you

By the way Matt, if for some reason your photobucket/laptop/internet/face breaks again and you can't post up the "photo's" you have, email them to me at the_random_hero_drew@hotmail.com. I am more than happy to personally upload them to my Facebook, Myspace, Photobucket, ihasaids.com, Boostcruising gallery, gallery on here (assuming it has one) and every other forum I'm a member of.
